REGISTRATION DEADLINE - MIDNIGHT, WEDNESDAY 30 JULY 2008

Registration forms must reach the GDC by midnight on Wednesday 30 July 2008.  If you have not registered with the GDC by that time, you may not, as of Friday 1 August 2008, work as a dental nurse.

You can continue to work if you sent in your application form before 31 July (i.e. it has to arrive with the GDC by midnight tonight) and have not yet received your registration certificate.  The GDC will acknowledge application forms when they receive them - if you have not received an acknowledgment letter and want to check that they  have received your form please call  0845 222 4141. They are working their way through a surge of applications received in the last few weeks, which they are clearing as soon as possible - they  do not want to restrict dental nurse working due to a delay in GDC processes.

If you have a qualification that is no longer awarded or recognised by the GDC, and you have not yet registered, you will need to join a training course as soon as possible. This also applies to dental nurses that have experience but no formal qualification.  Student dental nurses who are working towards a registrable qualification don't need to register with the GDC until they have finished their studies. However, please remember that you will need to register as soon as you have qualified.

INDEMNITY INSURANCE

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

The GDC requires all dental nurses to complete 150 hours CPD over a 5 year cycle, 50 of those hours to be verifiable.  Full details are available on the GDC website www.gdc-uk.org .
